Denand Stud, consisting of Denand Bonsmaras, denand Ile de France as well as Hartzenberg Frieian Stud, is run on the family farms, Kleinuitschot and Houthaalbomen.

The farm of origin, Kleinuitschot, was bought in September 1920 by Ferdinand Hartzenberg and farmed there with his son. Dr. Ferdi Hartzenberg, current owner of  Kleinuitschot, was born on the farm in 1936, and started farming there in 1963 together with his wife, Judie. Dr. Ferdi’s two sons, Ferdinand (born 1971) & De Wet (born 1974) respectively started farming together with their wives Monjha & Anita, in 2000 & 1996. their children is currently the fifth generation on the family farm.

The original 257 hectare of 1920 grew to 2993 hectare, and besides the cattle farming, they also cultivate mealies on dry land as well as under centre pivot sprayer systems. Dr. Ferdi respectively began the Bonsmara & Ile de France Studs in 1981 and 1989. Ferdi & Monjha then started the Frieian Horse Stud in 2000. Dewet also established 1600 olive trees on the farm in 2002 when the Holstein Stud that was under his management was terminated.

Breeding of stud-animals is not simply the increase of animals, but more importantly, the improvement of such animals.  

To improve our stud-animals to such extent to ensure profitable and happy farming within South Africa, for the fifth generation and others to come.
