Denand is run from the family farms, Kleinuitschot & Houthaalbomen and consists of the Denand Bonsmara Stud, Denand Ile de France Stud, as well as the Hartzenberg Friesian Stud.
The Denand Bonsmara Stud currently consists out of 270 cows and 9 bulls. The cattle is kept mainly on the family farm, Kleinuitschot just outside Sannieshof and Houthaalbomen near Lichtenburg in the North West Province, South Africa. The stud was started in 1981 by Dr. Ferdi Hartzenberg.
The Ile de France is a large, smooth bodied, palled sheep, with a balanced, well-fleshed conformation and a fleece free of pigmentation. The Denand Ile de France Stud was started in 1989 and is currently the largest stud within South Africa.
Ferdi & Monjha Hartzenberg started the Hartzenberberg Friesian Stud in 2000, but it was only after a visit to the Netherlands that they realized the importance of a good bloodline, where after Mauritz T & Mindert was bought. These two beautiful stallions are available for breeding.
Denand believes that breeding of stud-animals is not simply the increase of animals, but more importantly, the improvement of such animals.
